About Side B The ground floor and first floor each have a 1,000sq. ft. area. The Attic has approximately 1,500 sq. ft. There is also a full height basement with both inside and outside access Side B is on the left (North) side of the building and looks out on Avenue B and National Avenue.
The Parlour As with all rooms in the Duplex the ceiling height is over 9' and the floors are the original restored solid wood floors which have been oiled for luster, durability, easy maintenance and repair. This room has a cast iron fireplace with a brick hearth.
Vestibule Passageway and Halls In the common vestibule is a front door with an alongside window that leads to the 6' wide passageway. The passageway has the original solid wood pocket doors that when opened provide access to Side A. The roomy back hall has an enormous pantry that has full pullout shelves. There are french doors leading to the kitchen and parlour. A unique china cabinet in the back hall uses a kitchen door as its front.
The Kitchen The kitchen has solid wood throughout new cabinets designed to match the period. The cabinet fronts are maple. All the lower cabinets feature self closing drawers. Counters are porcelain tile in keeping with the historic period.
The Bathroom The bathroom is spacious and is designed for handicap access. It has a large shower area with a no lip teak grating. There is both an overhead "rain" shower and an adjustable wall/hand shower. Original bead board walls surround the tiled sink counter. All bathrooms have no noise externally ducted fans that can be controlled based on humidity.
The "Sun Room" This room has a door to the back porch and to the back hall. It has an antique sink in the corner and a tiled counter with original restored upper and lower cabinets. This room can be used in various ways. As a "Sun Room", a study/work room and casual lounge or as a dining room. Or as a ground floor bedroom for the mobility limited who have difficulty with climbing stairs to the upper bedrooms. The room is convenient for access to the bathroom, kitchen and back porch. Simply adding a ramp to the back porch stairs creates a suite for the handicapped.
