Side B Upper Floor and Attic

  • Bedrooms
There are 3 large bedrooms, each having mantlepieces, and high ceilings. The center bedroom has a ceiling fan and a large closet that has sliding cloth panels as doors. The panels can be chosen to match the room decor. The other 2 bedrooms have period corner cupboards.
  • Hallway
The upper corridor is 6' wide and has a large upper landing, the main staircase from the ground floor and a narrower staircase to the attic. There is a large built in linen cupboard in the back hall and the corridor is sufficiently large to accommodate cupboards. There are picture rails in the corridor as well as in all the bedrooms.
  • The Bathroom
The bathroom has a soak tub surrounded by a mosaic tile border. The floor is tiled and there is a porcelain tiled counter. The wall tiles are subway style, chosen to match the period. The walls are original bead board. The bath has both a double shower and faucet. The washing machine and gas dryer are conveniently in the bathroom on the floor where one undresses and stores clothes.
Like all the bathrooms, the ventilator fan is quiet and can operate based on humidity.
  • The Attic
The Attic is the gem of Side B. Unlike most attics in historic homes, this attic has a high cathedral ceiling more than 10' high in the as you enter. The attic is over both sides of the house and has an approximate area of 1,500 sq. ft. It has a room overlooking National Avenue that can be used as a bedroom or office, and an enormous open area with windows overlooking the garden that can be a great room or studio or can be fitted out for additional bedrooms. There is a room that has been roughed in for a bathroom which currently is used as a storage room. Opposite the bathroom is a small library/lounge/play area.
The attic is fully professionally insulated with sprayed in foam. The whole attic is conditioned with cooling and heating.
The floor is old pine finished with oil. It is laid on soundproofing so that noise does not reach the rooms below. The skirting boards were specially made to match those of the rest of the building.
